Show I Cedar Redmen Tackle Basic High On Gridiron in Henderson Friday The Cedar High School Red- I men will get their first taste of battle in the new football ( season Friday evening when they travel to Henderson, Nev. to take on Basic High School. Coach Jack Sawyers has I high hopes for his 19G7 Red-men Red-men and he is looking for a good showing in this opening battle, hLi only practice game befcre opening the regular league season against the Parowan Rams at Cedar City next week. Tentative offensive starting lineup for the Redmen in Friday's Fri-day's battle sees Dale Hatch at the quarterback spot with Wade Roberts and Randy Bjntley at the halfback slots. . Craig Knell will be running in the fullback spot. That starting backfielii averages out at 161 pound.-with pound.-with Knell leading in the weight department at 170. Along the line the Redmen will have good size this year averaging 190, pounds. At center cen-ter will be J. D. Jackson at 205 pounds; tackles will be Brent White and Mike Anker, both at 175; guards will include in-clude Randy Hoyt at 198 and Randy Robinson at 185. At end will be Wayne Esplin and Mike Pratt. Both tip the scales at 195 pounds. To date the Redmen have been concentrating on their running attack. The Redmen at this stage of the game, although not ready for midseason performances by any means, appear to have somewhat better balance than last year's team. Good experience exper-ience in most positions, good size, with good speed to boot, makes this team a potential champion this season. A factor in this week's coni test will be one of injuries. If the Redmen can come out of this fracas with Basic without any major injuries they should1 be in fine shape for the league opener. Ltiiii iT jrf ll . .. : V . . ;J . 4 STRIKE FOR PAY DIRT. A good share of the offense for the Cedar High Redmen will be concentrated in this senior aggregation, including, left to right, halfback Wade Roberts; fullback Craig Knell and quarterback Dale Hatch. j |
