Cedar High School r ! j By SAGE LUNT ' Cedar High Students Prepare for District Speech Meet Cedar High School will host an invitational speech meet Saturday Sat-urday at the High School. Competitive fields will be in debate, legislative forum, extemporaneous extem-poraneous speaking, and oratory. The debators will be dealing with the National Debate topic which is in the field of compulsory compul-sory arbritation. The debate teams from Cedar High School who will compete are composed of Kent Jones and Deor Jensen, John Bonzo and Glen Neilson, Terry Woolf and Stan Parry, Russell Shirtz and Robin Reid, Paul Roberts and Paul Meldrum, E. Nelson and David Hair, and Monty Stratton and Kathy Murdock. Diligent study and planning have gone into this topic and Cedar High Is expecting good ratings from the representative teams. The Legislative Forum will deal basically with the same topic as the debators. The Forum is divided into two groups, the House of Representatives and the Senate. Participating for Cedar High are Kim Humpherys, Steve Parry and Dennis Rowley. This activity is very interesting to observe and parents are invited in-vited to attend. Specific current news subjects are drawn and extemporaneous speakers must discuss the sub- ject drawn. Each speaker is given giv-en a few minutes in which to develop his speech and then it is presented before judges without notes. Cedar High contestants in this field are Eugene Dalley, Etta Et-ta Ray Grimshaw, Antone Chris-tensen Chris-tensen and Sage Lunt. The Oratory is on a specific subject and the participants must have written their orations and have them fully memorized. Orators Ora-tors for Cedar High are David Farnsworth, Elsie Homer, and Maxine Green. The meet Saturday will help to prepare the schools for the upcoming up-coming regional and state meets. With the continuous help cf Mrs. school to be wellCMFWYPPPPP Betty Murdock it is expected that the local school will be well represented re-presented by these students. |
