Of equal importance to this year's patrons will be the striking strik-ing new costumes (over one hundred) which have been pre-1 pared for the three plays. Created by Festival Costumer Roberta Bannon, the costumes will range from the brilliant colors of "The Taming of the Shrew" to the somber robes for "Julius Caesar." Long known for its rich collection collec-tion of Renaissance costumes, the Utah Shakespearean Festival Festi-val has been aided this year by the Avon Corporation by a grant which more than doubled the customary costume budget. But with three of Shakespeare's finest fin-est plays on hand, infinite var-, var-, iety is possible: another incentive incen-tive for audiences to "stay three days and see three plays" in Cedar Ce-dar City between July 11 and 30. Once again presenting three .Shakespeare plays in repertory performances, the season will begin be-gin this summer with a performance perform-ance of Shakespeare's rollicking comedy "The Taming of the Shrew". On this occasion Governor Govern-or Calvin L. Rampton will be present to open the anniversary season, along with a large number num-ber of state-wide dignitaries who will be attending this gala evening. eve-ning. For the remainder re-mainder of the three week season sea-son the plays will be presented on successive evenings, so that patrons of the Utah Shakespearean Shakespear-ean Festival can "stay three days I and see three plays". And on each evening the traditional Elizabethan Eli-zabethan entertainments will precede pre-cede the performances; dancing on the green, strolling madrigal madri-gal singers, and wandering sellers sel-lers of oranges and Elizabethan hoar-hound candies passing thru the audience.
