Show Mike Meldrum Leads Redmen to Third In Snow College Meet Mike Meldrum, who picked up two first places In the hurdles and was a member of the winning win-ning 8S0 yard relay team, paced the Cedar High School track team to third place in the annual Snow Ccdlege invitational track and field meet Saturday. Meldrum won both the high and low hurdle events in the Class B. division of the meet to lead all scorers on the Redman team. He cleared the high hurdles hur-dles in t5.5 seconds and was clocked at 21.4 seconds in the low hurdles. Only other first place for the Redmen was the 880 yard relay . which consisted of Robyn Reid, ! Meldrum, Mark Richsteig and Paul Gardner. Three third places were picked up by the Cedar High crew including in-cluding a third In the Javelin by Bryon Wood, third in the 220 yard clash by Richsteig and third in the broad jump by Russell Shirts. Gardner added a point for fifth place in the 100 yard dash; Richsteig Rich-steig placed fifth in the 440 yard run and the medley relay team added a fifth place to the points for the Redmen. Richfield won first place honors hon-ors in the meet with 49 points. Delta edged out the Redmen foi second with 28 points and Cedar came up with 26 Vz points, with North Sevier in fourth spot in the team competition with 19 points. This week the track and field squad will attend the annual Richfield invitational meet to be held there on Saturday, April 25. Coach Hal Norton expects to take most of the team members into the Richfield meet in preparation prep-aration for the Class B Relay classics, regional competition and finally the state Class B. finals fi-nals which will be held in Salt Lake City. Along the way the Redmen will participate in the BYU Invitational Invi-tational meet at Provo on April 30, followed by the relay carnival carni-val which will also be staged at the BYU track. j |
