Dalton, Utah Mother of the Year, makes the following report of her trip to the American Mother meet in New York City early In May, and she also takes this opportunity to express her appreciation to all of those people and organization organiza-tion who made contributions and did anything to make the trip possible for her. She also pays special- tribute to her husband, Harley W. Dalton who she says has been a "stalwart support to me all through the years." She describes her trip as follows: fol-lows: I never thought of fly-through fly-through the air. but I didn't have time to worry about it and en-Joyed en-Joyed every minute of it, even way up 22.000 feet above the rookies The air stewardess was lovely to us and they served the grandest meals while In the air. X?ulck Flight We left the Salt Lake airport at 1 a. m. Sunday, May 6, and changed planes in Chicago and we were In our room at Hotel Shelton, New York at 3 p. m., with a m hour stop over in Chicago. Sometimes we were way above great mountains ot snow white clouds, but most of the way we could see the verdant ver-dant plains, farms and wooded hills. Monday morning I registered at the American Mother Rooms H the Waldorf Astoria. Then we made a tour of the United Nations Na-tions with beautiful young lady from Panama as our guide. This building was very beautiful beauti-ful with different rooms finished in materials from many foreign countries. In the large assembly room, which seats 747 delegate, were little ear phones on the arm of each chair? By dUlineryour country, coun-try, the speaker's message comes to you in your own language. You can hardly be- a beautiful park, with green' grass, trees, shrubs and flowers, lieve your eyes, those skyscrap-j ers up so high and so close to-; gether they seem to almost meet. Then when you get on top of the i Empire State Building the other buildings look like pigmies. By putting your hand on the window win-dow you could feel it sway back and forth. There was no program Monday Mon-day night so Mrs. Spafford suggested sug-gested we go see the Ringling and Barnum and Bailey Circus in Madison Square Garden. It was really great, the largest building I ever saw. Tuesday we met In the Waldorf Wal-dorf Astoria again. It was really lowly to meet all those wonderful wonder-ful state mothers and the American Amer-ican Mother committee, and be with our Utah delegates, Mrs. Belle S. Spafford and Mrs. David Wilson of the General Relief Society So-ciety Organization. Mrs. Wilson's husband was an old classmate of mine at B Y U and was with her part of the time. Honor National Mother I I paid special tribute to Mrs.1 Jane Pritchard. our National Mother, Mo-ther, who is such a sweet woman. wo-man. I think that any woman who has been a foster mother to so many children ' who needed her love and guidance, must be! a wonderful woman. She has' gathered 75 children from the Ju-1 venile Delinquency court, and' they stay with her through high; school and many till they get married. Rosa Dalton, son of Francis Dalton, Har ley's brother, and husband of the Story Princess on the Perry Como Show, took US to the Radio City Music Hall to see the rockets and it 'was really lovely. Then we went to their apartment for dinner. From there we only had 15 minutes to get to the Broadway Theatre. We walked 14 blocks, rode 40 blocks on the subway in five minutes, walked another block, and got in our seats before the curtain went up. Church Scenes We left New York City at 3 p. m. Thursday, flew to Rochester, N. Y., rented a car and drove to the Joseph Smith home, the sacred sac-red grove, Hill Cumorah. It was such a beautiful place.
