Show Joseph C. Felix Named Head Of Cedar Institute Dr. Harvey L. Taylor, acting chancellor of the Unified Church School system, announced this week that Joseph C. Felix, Ash-ton, Ash-ton, Ida., will succeed Franklin D. Day as Director of the Cedar City Institute of Religion for College Col-lege of Southern Utah students. Mr. Day, who was recently released re-leased as President of the Cedar West Stake of the Church of Jesus Je-sus Christ of Latter-tlay Saints, will leave the institution at the end of the present school term to study and teach at Brigham Young University at Provo. He will begin his studies during the summer term, opening in June, and with the opening of school in September will assume his teaching duties, while continuing his studies. Mr. Felix has been with the Church Department of Education since 1955 as principal of the Ashton, Ida., Seminary and director direc-tor of the Flagstaff, Ariz., Institute Insti-tute of Religion. He will complete com-plete requirements for his doctorate doc-torate at BYU this summer. He has served as a missionary in the Texas-Louisiana Mission, as bishop of the Ashton Ward in Idaho and has been a member of the Yellowstone high council. Presently he is a member of the bishopric of the BYU 18th Ward. During World War II, Mr. Felix was an infantry officer In Italy. He is a native of Logan. He and his wife, the former Alene Edwards Ed-wards of Orem, are the parents of eight children. |
