Show Classes Begin at College of Southern Utah With Record Enrollment, New Staff Members Classwork on Monday launched launch-ed the College of Southern Utah Into its 62nd year of service to Utah and the nation. Record number of students were on hand to begin studies. Registrar Ward Robb Indicated that already the number of registered reg-istered students has surpassed the figures of last year and more are expected to sign up in the next few days. Total figures will be released as soon as registration registra-tion Is completed, said Robb. On hand to welcome the students stu-dents were eight new members of the faculty. Names of the new staffers were announced by Dr. Royden C Bralthwaite, director. These included: Fred Adams, theater arts; Gerald Hansen, political pol-itical science; LeRay McAllister, business; Kent Myers, English; Dr. Morris Shirts, education; Paul Vorklnk, English and Paul War-by, War-by, auto mechanics. Mrs. Clarice Cowley, formerly of Richfield, Is the new Women's Residence Hall matron. Many campus Innovations have been made by the buildings and grounds staif under the direction of Reed Cox and Sheldon Grant. Many new areas have been planted plant-ed to grass and shrubbery. Cement Ce-ment walks have been an additional addi-tional attraction around the married mar-ried housing section. At the present pre-sent time the city is completing a curb and gutter and street surfacing sur-facing along the south side of the campus In front of the Women's and Men's Residence Halls and Thorley Music JIall. This week has been designated as HI Week with actlitles devoted devot-ed to get-acquainted dances, parties, par-ties, movie and football game Saturday. |
