Show Broncos Meet Vikings in Conference Opener The CSU Broncos will enter the race for honors In the Inter-mountain Inter-mountain Collegiate Athletic Conference this week end when they travel to Rexburg, Idaho in a game against the always strong Ricks College Vikings. The game will be played Friday. Coach Bruce Osborne will take a 30-man squad to Rexburg in the first conference game of the season for the Broncos. They left this morning, Thursday. Ricks has already lost one conference game, that to the Dixie Rebels in their season opener op-ener at St. George by a score of 19 to 6. The Broncos have also lost to the Rebels, although not tn a conference contest. From all indications and comparison com-parison of scores against th" Rebels the game between the Broncos and the Vikings should develop Into a game between two equally matched clubs. I Although the Broncos lost tr the Rebels by a larger score, 27 to 6, the fact remains that th- Rebels lost several scoring opportunities op-portunities against both clubs. Osborne has been hard at work with the Broncos this week correcting weaknesses that showed up in last Friday night's game. The Broncos will take the field with a slightly heavier team and I with the squad members in high spirits a victory in the conference confer-ence opener should not be too much of a prophecy. I Several factors will be in fav-J or of the Broncos. Ricks Is down this season because of the re.' duction to a strictly two-year school and the Broncos, on the, other hand, should be in better, condition for this game than In Hast week's game against the Rebels. Bob Vest, who saw con siderable action against the Reb-! Reb-! els, had been in the Bronco stab. ; les for only two days before the Dixie game. His condition and, , handling of the ball should be improved for this game. I Coach Osborne is determined .to bring home a victory to set, j the stage for the next home ap-' ap-' pearance against Dugway Proving Prov-ing Grounds on Oct 12th. |
