Show LIVING IN THE ESCALANTE VALLEY Br Mrs. Jack Mori LADIES CLUB The November meeting and election of officers for the Es-calante Es-calante Valley Ladles Club was held on Wednesday night Nov. 20 at the home of Mrs. Mable Nellson. Along with club business busi-ness and the election of offices interesting slides were shown and told about modern homes and decoration by Mr. Antone Hunter of Cedar City. A good time was enjoyed by all and delicious de-licious refreshments were served by hostess, Mable Neilson and co-hostess Jean Love. The following women were elected as officers of the Ladies Club for 1958: Mary Moyle, presi-dent; presi-dent; Barbara Laub, first vie? president; LaRue Donelley, second sec-ond vice president; Helen Bur-1 Igess, Dcretary and treasurer I 4-H ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM A nice group of 4-H members, parents and leaders attended the program presented by club members mem-bers from seven different clubs of Modena, Newcastle and Beryl1 which was held at the Escalante Valley school house. I The awarding of certificates and seals was presented by Fran, i cis Betenson of the First Security Securi-ty Bank of Cedar Cltv. reDresent- Ing the Utah Bankers Association. Associa-tion. Certificates and seals were awarded to all the 4-H Clubs and leaders. Two First Security Foundation savings accounts were given to Robert Reeves, Jr., and Sidney Tullis of Newcastle for outstanding record keeping. County medals were awarded by County Agent Wallace Sjo-blom Sjo-blom to Robert Reeves, Jr. of Newcastle for his grand champion cham-pion hog and to Evan Thorley of Modena for electricity. These members worked hard to earn their awards. This should encourage en-courage other members to Improve Im-prove record keeping and strive harder to make the best better. Leaders attending the 4-H leaders banquet in Cedar City were Mr. and Mrs. Bryner Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Del Vecchio and Mrs. Edith Hunt. A gold pin was presented to Mrs. Edith Hunt for 10 years of leadership in the 4-H Club work. We are very proud of her. i I HERE AND THERE ' Mr. and Mrs. John Smith have returned home from California 1 where they visited with friends and their daughter Ruth and family. The Smiths attended the Bible Convention at Las Vegas enroute to California. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Denton of El Centro, Calif., are now on the Miller place which they are buy- j ing. Those attended cub scout lead-1 ership meeting last Thursday night at Cedar City were Robert Reeves of Newcastle and Mr. and Mrs. Bryner Wood and Mr. and Mrs. Neilse Nelson and Mrs. Francis Piper of the Valley. A large group of Valley residents resi-dents attended Uvada Stake con- ference at Enterprise on Sunday. |
