City, Utah 1958 Christmas Season Opens In City Saturday As Lights Go On Activities Outlined By Jaycee-Ettes For Season Opening Saturday, Nov. 30, has been set as the official opening of the Christmas season In Cedar City. Highlighting the event will be the annual turning on of the Christmas lighting system under the direction of the Cedar City Junior Chamber of Commerce. An added feature of this year's season opening will be a Christ-mas Christ-mas parade, sponsored by the Jaycpe-Ettes. Leading the parade will be Santa Claus in his first official visit to the city. Activities for the day will get underway at 4:30 p. m. with the parade. A float carrying "Old Saint Nick" will lead the parade. The parade will also have floats from the Beta Sigma Phi, the Kl-wanis Kl-wanis and Kiwanl-Anns. an en-try en-try from the National Guard, and the colors carried by the American Amer-ican Legion. Two bands will participate in the event, Including a band from Cedar City and the Hurricane Hich School Band. Also marching will be the Cedar City Pep Club. Following the parade a shot program will be held at which Santa Claus will tell the children chil-dren of his next visit to the community com-munity on the 14th, and advise them that he and his heloers will be watching from no'.v o Christmas. This program will be held following the parade. Residents will be Invited to stay in town following the parade par-ade for the many displays of Christmas gifts that will be offered of-fered by the merchants for view, lng and selecting for Christmas. At the fall of darkness the switch will be turned on for the i lighting system, which as promised prom-ised by the Jaycees. will be more extensive this season. Jaycees, under the direction of co-chairmen James Montgomery and James Sandberg, have been working over, the week end and evenings preparing the lighting system, which again promises to be the most outstandinj in the j southern part of the state. . A second visitation of Santa I Claus will be sponsored by the Jaycees on December 14 at which time he will meet the children land distribute candy and nut.
