Show Rams Take Overton in Practice Tilt The Parowan High School football foot-ball team traveled to Overton, Nev., last Friday for a practice game with the Moapa Valley High team and returned with a 33-0 victory. After a slow start Coach Richard Rich-ard Jones' sophomore and Junior Jun-ior studded team rolled over the Nevada team, gaining momen. turn as the game progressed. The Rams had to be contest with two points, made on a safety, safe-ty, in the opening quarter of play. They came up with six more in the second period when Roderick Lister gathered in a Nevada punt and carried it 65 yards for a touchdown. The try for extra point was not good, and the half ended with Parowan leading 8-0. Early in the third quarter Don Halterman, quarterback, threw a pass to Reed Thornton, end, and the latter went 25 yards for the score. Then Halterman went over for a second TD a few minutes later to bring the score to 20-0, with both tries for extra ex-tra point being missed. Coach Jones used his second string players for more than half of the third quarter then sent in his first eleven for the final four minutes and they scored two mors touchdowns. Halter, man again passed to Thornton for the first of these, then car rled the next one over himself. After the last touchdown Dean Robinson, halfback carried the ball over for the first extra point of the game and brought the score to 33-0 for the Rams. League play opens In thli division this week end with Coach Jones' squad entertaining the strong Cedar High Redmen coached by Hal Norton. The game will be played on the Parowan Par-owan field at 3 p. m. Friday. While the Rams will be the underdogs un-derdogs in this game the players play-ers are showing a fine team spirit and are determined to make a good showing against the favored opponents. |
