Show Parowan Council Rules on Garbage Controls At last Monday night's meet-j meet-j ing of the Parowan City Council I it was reported that conditions at i the City dump ground were bad j because of the dumping of dead 1 animals and wet garbage there, 1 it is announced by Mayor Osmer 1 K. NiclM-n. Mr. Nielson adds that the council also heard complaints j from residents that the city gar-! gar-! bage collectors did not pick up wet garbage on their rounds. In answer to these complaints the council ruled that city workers work-ers were instructed not to pick up wet garbage and that no such materials as well as dead animals ani-mals are to be taken to the dump ground. The council instructed city officers to apprehend violators violat-ors of this ruling and that prosecution prose-cution will follow. With recent raises in charges for water from the city culinary system, many complaints have been received by the Council on what residents feel are excessive water bills the Mayor states. Requests from some residents for a rebate on their water bills have been heard and these were discussed at Monday's meeting. In line with past policy rebates were refused because in many cases the high useage was caused by leaks and running taps, etc., of the useis, who were instructed to get these things fixed and not waste the water. It was also reported to the Council that there were instances where two businesses and two residences were using water from one tapping of the water lines and under one meter. City ordinances ordi-nances say this is in violation of the law and the council instructed instruct-ed that these things be corrected immediately and that citizens operating op-erating in violation of the law pay for a second connection in the near future. Complaints were heard by the council of automobiles speeding past the new municipal swimming swim-ming pool on the canyon highway high-way and also of pool patrons using us-ing the highway to walk to the pool. It was decided to ask for the state highway department s cooperation on the control of speeding on the highway, and the city has requested that icsidents refrain from using that road as a pedestrian way to the pool.
