Show BERYL NEWS NOTES ' The Escalante Valley Sunday School will hold its Easter Sunday Sun-day program at the home of Mr. land Mrs. John McGarry. Everyone Every-one is welcome and the officers .urge all to attend. Starting time !of Sunday School is 10:30 a. m. j The Beryl 411 club held a , meeting April 3 at Escalante Valley Val-ley school. Each member reported report-ed on his project and all are reported re-ported as coming along fine. All members have their own ewe, some sponsored by parents and some by herd owners. Most of the ewes have lambed and Richard Rich-ard Hunt, club reported reports the crop is good. At present plans are being made for the coming summer activities. The tractor maintenance school that has been held every Satur- day during the winter under the direction of 4-H leader, Wm. E. Thompson, is almost completed and the tractors, machinery and club members are ready for .spring work. I Thursday evening, April 3 Prof, i Edwin L. Peterson, head of the j political science department at jthe Branch Agricultural college, in Cedar City, gave a talk on the , United Nations. The meeting was ' held at the Escalante Valley schoolhouse. It was suggested that instead of a different subject sub-ject each week, next year, that it might be better to pick one subject and make a complete course of it, such as South America Ameri-ca or the Middle East. Most ! everyone present agreed. This was Mr. Peterson's last lecture for the season and the people of the valley extend their thanks and appreciation to him and all those who made it possible for him to appear. The Escalante Valley P-TA held a party Wednesday evening, April 2, at the Escalante valley school. The school children wrote and participated in two plays from which the proceeds are to be used for an all-day excursion to Cedar City. It was a big success. suc-cess. The Plays were "I Just About Had Me a Man," written by Short Holland and "A Surprise For Mrs. Appleblossom," by Lulu Belle Pittard. There was. a door charge and refreshments were sold. The refreshments re-freshments were graciously given by ladies of the community. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Thomas and sons have moved back to their farm on Beryl road after two year's absence from the community. com-munity. Mr. and Mrs. E. Marrimoth moved to Newcastle and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Rogge are taking over the farm. Otto Fife played the role of "Sir Simon of Centerville Castle" Cas-tle" in Enterprise, April 4, in the "Saturday Evening Ghost." The play was presented admission admis-sion free. |
