Show Activation of Guard Unit Delayed For Want of Inspector Failure to procure an inspector from Sixth Army Headquarters has resulted in the delay of the activation of the Cedar City National Na-tional Guard unit. The Adjutant Adjut-ant General's office in Salt Lake City has scheduled Oct. 5 as the new date for the activation of Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 213th Armored Field Artillery Ar-tillery Battalion, according to Capt. E. T. Woolf. Additional officers and enlisted enlist-ed men are being secured for the unit, and Capt. Woolf reports that the results of his recruiting efforts have exceeded hi expectations. expec-tations. Two officers for full time positions with the battalion are expected in Cedar City in the next two or three weeks. Former commanding officer of the 213th, Lt. Col. Frank Dal-ley, Dal-ley, has been assiduous in his efforts to promote the organization organiza-tion of the unit and has cooperated cooper-ated to the fullest extent, reports Capt. Woolf. "Although the number of personnel per-sonnel procured thus far for the Guard unit is not large, the calibre cali-bre of the men is high," said Capt Woolf, "and I intend, so far as possible, tor avoid sacrificing quality to quantity." |
