Show RoeThorley Bags Cougar on Kanarra Mountain "Everything happens at once," is a phrase that is well known and its meaningful message has become a reality in Cedar City. Roe Thorley of Cedar City reported re-ported to the Iron County Record Rec-ord early this week that he had killed a 127 pound female cougar on Kanarra mountain over the veek-end. This kill, coupled with the early spring cougar kills of Jay George and then recently topped by Wallace Adams in his double bear killing has made quite an active summer around the Cedar City area. I'erched on a ledge near the , Lew Ence and Lyman Sevy ranches on Kanarra mountain, Mr. Thorley had spent a considerable consid-erable amount of time trying for some hawks. Just to occupy a little time he reported that he rolled a rock down the ledge and apparently scared the cougar out of hiding. His first shot, he reported, re-ported, hit the cougar in the side and the large cat rolled down the ledge and nearly over h edge. Perched on the edge Mr. Thorley's second shot was in the head and he made a grab for the animal's tail to keep it from rolling over the edge. Returning to Cedar City with his kill, Mr. Thorley reported that the overall length of th cat was seven feet, 11 inches. Livestockmen who have graz- lng property on Cedar and Kanarra Ka-narra mountain should be able to relax their vigil for these destructive de-structive animals after such a profitable summer kill. |
