Show Tuberculosis Society Members Attend Salt Lake Meet 1 Three members of the Iron County Tuberculosis and Health Association attended the Western States Tuberculosis Conference held at Hotel Utah in Salt Lake City Sept. 17 through 19. They included Mrs. Darwin Nelson, chairman; Mr. Dan M. Jones, and Mrs. D. C. Dix who is the Utah representative on the national na-tional board of directors. Mrs. Dix served as a discussion leader and special speaker to the area on "health education in our schools." Mrs. Nelson and Mr. Jones met in special session with the national director of Christmas Christ-mas Seal sales and report an encouraging en-couraging outlook for this year's drive. Purpose of the conference was to organize the western states into a group to give leadership to tuberculosis and health problems peculiar to this area. The group comprises 11 western states, Hawaii Ha-waii and Alaska who were represented rep-resented by volunteer workers, office staff members, doctors and several members of the national association. The group was addressed on Friday evening by the national president, Mark Harrington of Denver who flew from Paris, France where he had attended an international meeting, in order or-der to make the promised appearance ap-pearance in Utah. He was met at the Salt Lake airport by Mrs. Dix and Edward J. Walton, newly new-ly elected president of the west-"n west-"n conference. |
