Things weren't so rosy after the first two plays of the frame, however. Ricks took the opening kickoff and on the first play from scrimmage Ed Clark, Viking fullback, recoil . 57 yards for pay dirt, a six point to nothing lead. The Vikings kicked, held and jOgain on their first offensive play Clark scampered over the goal line, but the score was nullified nul-lified by a penalty. Nobody -seems to know what liajiSpened at this point but Coach lirure Osborne must have whispered whis-pered .sweet nothings to someone because the Broncos all of sudden sud-den held their own. Broncos Launch Drive . The second quarter story is even more breath-taking with the llroiwos launching a drive near the end of the first quarter, and continuing in the second with Morris Haggerton of Moab, Keith Tattersall of Beaver and tioug flaws of Panguitch uniting to put ver a tally. Haggerton took the pigskin across on a brilliant 15 yajd jaunt and then kicked the extra point to take a 7 to 6 lead. Jiot much later, after the Broncos Bron-cos had kicked, Kenneth Benson, rushed In to deflect a flat pass by Vernal Rydalch and John Week Intercepted and outran the ricks backfield to the goal line for another tally for the Broncos, llalltime score read 14 to 6 for the Broncos. Ilaggerton wasn't through, however, and the second half became be-came more of a run away than the first. Haggerton scampered for two more TDs and Wood, with a couple of outstanding catches, i with a final snag in the end zone tallied another. In the waning moments of the final period a second string crew of Broncos crashed over for another TD, Jess Hollarman packing the ball in this final drive. Play Outstanding Ball Outstanding performances were rendered by every member of the Ilronco squad who saw action on Thursday evening. Don Keeney, quarterback for the first three quarters, more than justified tiiroself as the starter of the game. But Haggerton and Wood were the two standouts of the Bronco offense and defense as well. Ilaggerton, along with I Keith Cooley of Cedar City, did exceptionally well as line backers back-ers and Ted Atherley, gigantic Benson, and the Rasmusscn boys , were stalwarts on the line. With the offense clocking and the defensive play looking its best last week, Coach Osborne and a "hopped up" crew will again entertain local fans Saturday, Satur-day, Oct. y when they take on Carbon, another strong I C A C team. |
