Schmutz of Cedar City, member of the College of Southern South-ern Utah staff, is one of nine Utah men nominated by Congressman Con-gressman II. A. Dixon for appointment ap-pointment to the National Rivers and Harbors Congress, who have been recognized in the state for their contributions to conservation conserva-tion and reclamation. Mr. Schmutz has had considerable consid-erable experience in rivers and harbors, flood control, having served with the U. S. Department of Agriculture, Division of Farm Management, as an economics analyst for three years. His work in this field dealt directly with flood control in the western states, particularly California. After attending Cornell University Univer-sity he joined the U S D A as an economist in 1938, and remained re-mained with the department until un-til entering military service in 1941. After leaving the service he accepted a position with the College Col-lege of Southern Utah and has remained on the college staff since. Stanley Brewer, David Scott and Ezra J. Fjelsted, Ogden; Lamont E. Tueller, former Iron County agricultural agent, Logan; Merle Hyer, Lewiston; Robert G. Stewart, Stew-art, Brigham City, and Harold Anderson, Fillmore. |
