Show Contractors on lob To Complete Canyon Road Oiling Contractors for the Cedar canyon can-yon road construction job, completed com-pleted last fall except for the laying of an oil dust coat, are back on the Job again to complete com-plete the contract. The road was reconstructed from the coal creek bridge at the east edge of town to near Guff Springs six or seven miles up the, canyon. In addition Improvements Improve-ments were made in the road from that point to the forest boundary at Wood's ranch. The contract called for laying an oil dust coat over the entire distance, dis-tance, but this part of the contract con-tract was not completed. Heavy traffic on the road du-ing du-ing the past two months has made it necessary to do considerable consid-erable leveling before the dust coat can be applied. Dust coating is considered to be only temporary treatment to control dust, and according to District Road Engineer Sheridan Fiack, Bureau of Public Roads officials have assured him that during the summer of 1951 the road will be surfaced with regular reg-ular "plant mix" oil surfacing. Lack of the oil coat together with the extremenly dry weather has created a serious traffic haz-ard, haz-ard, and much motoring discomfort discom-fort because of the dust on" the road. |
