Show Social Notes Mrs. Ralph Box Major and Mrs. O. W. Harris entertained one hundred guests at a beautifully arranged buffet supper at their home Friday, April 27, honoring Gov. and Mrs. J. Bracken Lee and visiting dig-nataries. dig-nataries. Mrs. Frank Goddard of Los Angeles An-geles is visiting at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, the Forrest Anderson's Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith motored mo-tored to St. George on Sunday to dine at the home of the Laran-odi's Laran-odi's Mrs. Joseph Roach returned to Cedar City from a brief stay with her mother in Salt Lake City, whom is ill. Mr. and Mrs. Walt Johnson and Miss Alice Williams motored to Provo over the week end to visit friends. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Overson of Nephi. Utah, were guests of the Overson family over the week end. Miss Lois Miles is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loran C. Miles. Lois is employed and living liv-ing in Salt Lake City. Vacation time the Ken Hey. bornes and Mrs. Albert Biederman Bieder-man are making plans for their trip to the Northwest and Canada. Cana-da. They plan to be gone two weeks. Mrs. Melvln A. Cowley and Mrs. Harris Nelson flew in to Salt Lake City to attend the announcement an-nouncement tea on Saturday of the forth-coming marriage of Miss Betty Shurtliff to Melvin D. Cowley. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Oldberg of Payson, Utah, motored to Cedar Ce-dar City on Monday to celebrate the birthday of Mr. Ernest Boyns. To climax the Military ball the C. R. Hunters entertained Gov. and Mrs. J. Bracken Lee and dignataries at their home for a midnight supper. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Taylor of San Diego, Calif., visited at the home of Mr. .Taylor's sister, Mrs. Demar Bowman and family. Mr. and Mrs. D. V. Shurtliff of Salt Lake City announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Betty Jean, to Melvin D. Cowley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin A. Cowley of this city. The Salt Lake L D S temple will be the setting for the wedding wed-ding rites, May 31. In the evening eve-ning a reception will honor the couple at the Garden Park L D S ward chapel. Miss Shurtliff has asked her sister, Mr. C. V. Dover to be ma tron of honor. Mrs. Harris Nelson, Nel-son, sister of the future bridegroom, bride-groom, Mrs. R. C. Shurtliff of Denver, Mrs. D. D. Shurtliff of Provo and Miss Patricia McGin-nis McGin-nis will be her attendants. Mrs. C. V. Dover will perform duties of best man. |
