Show It Rites Held ForKanab Exposure Victim Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p. m. in the Kanab South ward chapel for Hyrum Lorenzo Roundy, 38, Kanab stockman stock-man who was found dead Saturday Sat-urday morning after spending the night on the "ledges" north-west north-west of Kanab. Services were conducted by Bishop J. Mark Holmes of the Kanab South ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Roundy's body was found about four miles from Kanab in Pugh canyon Saturday morning by searchers who had become alarmed at his failure to return home. It is believed he had been dead only a short time. A physician phy-sician reported the death to be due to exposure. An examination of Roundy's trail revealed that he apparently apparent-ly had been thrown from his horse and fallen over a 20 foot ledge, suffering minor injuries. His body was found about 100 yards from where he had fallen over the ledge. Roundy and a cousin had been hunting on horseback in the area on Friday. On the return trip, the cousin's horse was unable un-able to travel in the deep snow. He left Roundy to take a longer way home through Pugh canyon. can-yon. He climbed down steep ledges in the canyon and then made his way home on foot. Roundy's body was found by another cousin, Billy Swapp. Mrs. Caroline Findley Roundy, Salt Lake City, mother of the victim, arrived in Kanab Saturday morning morn-ing to spend the holidays with her son. A son of Lorenzo Hyrum and Caroline Findley Roundy, he was born on July 16, 1911 in Kanab. He attended Salt Lake City schools and also the Universi-ty Universi-ty of Utah. On October 30, 1937, he married mar-ried Wanda Crosby of Kanab and lived fc; a short time in Salt Lake City before moving to Kanab. Survivors, besides his mother, are his widow and two daughters and a son, Catheryn, Sherrone and Paul Roundy. |
