Show Young People of Cedar City Enjoy Supervised Recreation Activities As a result ol the generosity of two local physical education Instructors, and their Interest in the young people of the community, commu-nity, more tnan two hundred boys between the ages of ten and fifteen years, are enjoying supervised sup-ervised recreation activities each Saturday, and profiting greatly from their experiences. Several weeks ago Coach Ray Undqulst, head of the Branch Agricultural Ag-ricultural college physical education educa-tion department initiated the organization or-ganization of a Junior recreation club, and with the cooperation of Wallace Osborne, junior high school physical education instructor, in-structor, a group of Cedar City businessmen and the college and high school administrations, were able to provide for the boys of the city an activity program that provides much fun, excellent Instruction, In-struction, and clean physical activity ac-tivity for the boys when they are not in school. The boys, divided in age groups, gather at the college and high school gymnasiums each Saturday morning, and are directed di-rected In exercises and various types of games and sports. Each group has one hour of Intensive activity, after which they get a shower, and Instructions on physical phy-sical cleanlines. 1 Mr. Lindqulst and Mr. Osborne give their time for this activity absolutely free of charge. It Is not a part of their jobs, and they receive no remuneration from any other source, and therefore their contribution to the welafre of the boys of the community Is a generous one indeed. The use of the gymnasiums are provided by the schools without cost to the youngsters or the i sponsors, and the business men have helped with the organization organiza-tion and have cooperated to make sure that no youngster is deprived of this opportunity, because be-cause of his financial condition. Definite plans have been laid only for, winter months' activities, activi-ties, but It Is hoped by the sponsors spon-sors that the program may be carried on throughout the year, with greater emphasis and activity acti-vity during the vacation months. |
