Show "Welcome Home To Our Servicemen" Is Theme of July 4th Celebration Here Plan; for the biggen Fourth o? July celebration In the histoiy of edur City are rapidly being completed com-pleted according to Lamond P. Hlgbee, Hlg-bee, general chairman, who state? .hat all committees are working diligently to make eac.i part of t.i; celebration a success. The theme of the days celebration celebra-tion will be "Welc:me Home To Our Servicemen", and it Is hoped thai all residents wi:i let the spirit of the occasion enter their hearts, and participate to the fullest possible extent to really welcome the boy back home. Tills theme will be especial'" emphasized in the parade, to be held on Main street at 9:30 a. in. and at the public meeting to le held at the First. Ward Chapel at 11:00 a. m. Parents are urged to help their chi: iren get ready for the blij parade, par-ade, by assisting with the decorations decora-tions of doll buggies, wagons, bicycles bi-cycles and other vehlcllcs. Cash prizes will be awarded for the best entries In the chlldrens divisions of the parade. v Business firms, church nnd civic organizations are urged to ent r floats carrying out the theme of the occasion. All servicemen ar? also askod to participate In ' the parade, In uniform if possible. Horsemen of the city will be askc l la fill one section of the big parade. The parade will start on South Main street go down the street, with the children dropping out at the park, but the remainder returning Lack up th street to College Avenue, Ave-nue, where those on foot will drop uit. The floats and horse section will continue to First South nnd then along First south to Third West where it will disband. Following the parade and public neetlng there will be a program of sports for old and young, Including races and games at the City Park, and swimming carnival at the municipal mun-icipal pool, a softball game between Cedar and Pioche, children's danc adult dances, one old time danci in the First Ward and a modern dance at the open air pavilion. The day's program Is varied enough to hold the Interest of everyone and the committees in chnrge urge everyone to remain in town and make this celebration a gala welcome home party for the men who have been away to war. |
