Show Reduction Made In Stale And County Property Tan Levies 1912 Levy Will Clear County Of Bonded Indebtedness The Board of Iron County Commissioners Com-missioners Monday set the tax levy on all Iron county property at 7 mills. 16 mills less than the levy of 1941. Tills, together with a 2 mill reduction In the state general tax levy and a 1 mill reduction In the school distrxt levy, reduces the property owner's tax bill this year by 4.6 mills over what he paid dur- ' 111? 1Q41 The reduction In the county levy was made passible by a reduction of the levy to pay Indebtedness from 3.0 mills last year to .8 of a mill this year, and .2 of a mill In the levy for public welfare. Tills U a reduction of 2.4 mills, but a .3 of mill Increase was made in the county Indigent fund levy, a .1 of a mill Increase in the interest and sinking fund levy, and the addition of .4 of a mill for noxious weed control. The county Is In a remarkably fine condition In so far as bonded httebtedness is concerned, with only $9,000 in bonds outstanding. The 1942 levy will wipe off this $9,000 and leave the county entirely entire-ly clear from bonded debts. The levy for the county general fund was placed at 2.0 mills the same as last year, the hospital levy was left at .5 of a mill, the library levy at 3 of a mill, and the airports air-ports levy also left the same as last year, .2 of a mill. The levy is based on a 90 percent per-cent collection on the present assessed as-sessed valuation of county property of $9,723,301. A one mill levy applied ap-plied on this valuation will raise $9,723.30 if a 100 percent collection Is made. Based on a 90 percent collection col-lection one mill will raise $8,750.97. The state general tax levy was set Monday by the state tax commission com-mission at 4.7 mills, two mills less tlian the 1941 6.7-mlll levy. This is a reduction of 29 percent In the tax levy and will be collected on an assessed valuation 5.6 percent higher than the 1941 assessment. The total assessed valuation . of all property In the state for taxation taxa-tion purposes this year Is $603,429,-452. $603,429,-452. This Is $34,973,588 higher than the $568,455,864 assessment placed on property In 1941.
