I dream and think of loved ones at home and my thoughts get kind pf low. ' I I think of the many things';! had; a car. a home, a girl. And wonder, is it really fair? And my mind begins to whirl. I think of the gang on the corner, how we used lo Joke and play.' How we always stuqk together, happy, carefree, and gay. Why did we have to give this up? We didn't want to fight. Then 1 wonder Am I right? Then the picture takes a change, this scene ts a dl.ferent war! 1 see bloody footprints in the snow. What are they fighting for? Then I seem to hear a voice; it says: "For you. my son, so you may have a nation strong, that will never be undone!". "For you, and all the ones you love that they may worship as they please; that you may live the. life you want, and live that life at ease. We could have easily given In. and said we will not fight. We had not half as much as you. Would you have thought that right? 1 "We suffered much for you, my enn at times no food, no drink. We gave you what jou have today, before you quit, stop! Think! The .war today is Just the same, it's for that very sod. You're not fighting for yourself, but for Country and for Ood!" q And then the pic.ure fades away, I find that I've been dreaming. But then I stop, I alt, I think, and slowly get the meaning. Tonwrow when I awake at morn; at early break of day, I'll thank the Lord for what I have, as silently I prey! . This past week has been a dull one in the way of student activities here at the 318th. Everyone has been busy, cramming for the month ly exams. At the learned institution of B. A. C. this week, newly arrived Aviation Avia-tion students were given a rousing welcome by Group Commandeqr Vernon Elarth. Mr. Elarth spoke in his usual inimitable way. He said: "111 g.'g the Hell out of you!" Sunday's radio broadcast went, over with a bang, again. Everyone was well pleased with the fine en-j tertainment furnished by the band and entertainers, Gary Judson and Hugh Drish. Aviation Student John Powers, of Squadron II. displayed dis-played a marvelous baritone voice, on "Night And Da:." That Old, Black Magic" and "Moonlight j Mood." These broadcasts are held in, the Amphitheatre at the Park on Sunday afternoons at 3 o'clock. The public is cordially Invited. This Friday evening brings with it a Graduation Dance for Squadron Squad-ron IV ... . This formal affair Is to be- held in the Escalantle Ball- I |
