Show Work of County Adult Education Group Reported Th purpose of the Iron County Adult Education program, and the need for Adult Education as a war time program, was given in the report re-port of the year's work, made by Mrs. Luella Dalton, instructor. The program, she says, helps bolster moral, gives a'd where needed In helping women to clothe themselves them-selves and their families on a limited lim-ited budget, educate the consumer-buyer (the mothers) to spend wisely both the clothing dollar and the food dollar, brings home to them the facts concerning right living and proper nutrition to build strong and healthy Americans. During the course of the classes, new helpful hints on homemaklng quilt making, better and safer methods of dry cleaning In the home, making home-made soap, canning, practical and speedy cleaning methods, have been taught the group. Each class Is organized with a president, vice president, and secretary. sec-retary. During the past year the group has studied the following subjects: The clothing budget, the clothing inventory, color, clothing plan, home sewing, better buymanshlp, labels, how to know real values, care of clothing, virgin wool, roused rous-ed wool, reworked wool, wool pro- j ducts laboring a:t of July 1941, the viscose, cuprammonlum, cellulose cell-ulose acetate and nltro-cellulose worsteds, hard twisted serges, and best buys In woolens for service, process in making rayons. During the past year, Mrs. Dalton Dal-ton reports, hundreds of articles of clothing have been made, saving thousands of dollars ' of clothing i cost In the county. Among the items made are ladies and girls dresses, ladies tailored suits, skirts, children's coats, blouses, capes, aprons, shirts, boy coats, boys' suits, boys' trousers, house coats, snow suits and pajamas. Much remodeling re-modeling and repairing has also been done by the group |
