Show WATER QUESTION IN BINGHAM. It is becoming more and more evident that a great many people peo-ple in Bingham are getting ready to make a demand for better water. The people in Carr Fork in particular feel the need of a change. This question is not one of amount, but is one of quality. The people want good water. Pure and healthful water that they are not afraid to drink or offer to their children. It is said that there are one or more sources where Bingham could secure without great expense an ample supply of good drinking drink-ing water. This is an important question. Bad water operates against a town in many ways, and if it is possible to have a supply sup-ply of the best water the people are right in asking for it. A prominent business man, in speaking of the water situation here, said that there was no reason why Bingham should not have a supply of good water all the year round, and he said that the reason he was so anxious might be called a selfish reason. He said if we hod good water more people would live in the town, and if more people lived here he would get more business. Selfish or otherwise, his reason is a good one and he reasons correctly. The question of water is an important and a vital one. People everywhere are anxious about the kind of water they will have to drink. This his been the case for ages. The health of a community depends very much on the purity of its water. But when it becomes known that the water in a certain town is not pood prosepective settlers do not wish to locate in such a place unless un-less they have to. Therefore, a water supply from a source where its purity would be unquestioned would have the effect of bringing bring-ing more people to the community. One of the first things a stranger hears after landing in Bingham is that the water is bad. He is advised at the hotels and restaurants to drink sparingly of the water. And there can be no doubt but that this operates against the town. In times like these no one likes to replace water with a substitute. Substitutes are scarce and almos impossible. Bingham ought to have a sup-j ply of drinking water that all the people would bo proud of and j that we could boast of to strangers. Such would not only help j boost the town, but it would make it much more comfortable for the people who live here all the time. This town is in good shape financially and along with' the oilier good things it has it can certanly afford good water. |
