Show UNIFORM RARRED T TTTTilttTfl nimnnt connected with military af- fairs and with a different interpretation of the English vocabulary than we possess can read the following press dispatch differently than we do, the boys are no longer permitted to appear ir, 0M uniforms of soldiers, after receiving their discharge dis-charge from the army. It is generally understood by the returning men that they are permitted to retain and wear their uniforms for four months but the following appears to be a ruling which ! revokes the previous instructions. Here is the i press report of the ruling, published by a Salt liake daily paper: Discharged soldiers who are back in civilian civil-ian life are prohibited from wearing the prescribed pre-scribed uniforms of officers and enlisted men, once they are out of the service. Regulations Regula-tions tp this effect have been issued by the military and naval authorities. The only exceptions ex-ceptions to the rule are national guardsmen, cadets and reserve officers, who are permitted to wear-the uniform for ceremonial occasions. Offenders against the new regulations will be punished with a $300 fine or imprisonment not exceeding six months. If the foregoing is official then the whole matter mat-ter hinges on the question of when a discharged soldier is out of the service. We would presume that he is out as soon as he obtains his discharge and arrives at his destination, supopsed to be home or his future place of employment or residence. We should dislike very much to see any of our soldier boys embroiled in serious difficulties on account of an innocent infraction of some ruling of the war department. Some more specific information in-formation should be furnished on the subject. |
