Show HOW WILL WE RANK? HOW will Cedar City rank in the clean-town contest this year when the representative of the State Board of Health makes his call within a day or two? Do we feel satisfied in our own minds with the showing we will be able to make, or are we afllcted with the thoughts that we might have done better if We had only have tried earnestly? ear-nestly? Are all the things done and improvements improve-ments made that we had planned, or did we lack the execution or dispatch to put them into effect? We fear that a number of us nr in thin inffnp condition. Still, there are many things on which we may feel to congratulate ourselves. The district school building, which was one of our weakest points in the contest last year, is being rapidly replaced re-placed with a new and modern one that would do credit to any town, and While the building will not be ready for occupancy, for a few weeks yet, still the fact that it is under way and will soon be ready will be taken into consideration in awarding our per cents. Some good and substantial improvements havo been made to some of the streets of the city, and the springling of Main street is a strong point in our favor. A decided improvement has been made in the manner of disposition of garbage, and in other ways we have made progress, but we fear that not enough attention has been paid to a number num-ber of the little details, particularly about private premises, to warrant any very strong hopes of obtaining ob-taining first place honors this year. m |
