Show Raised Hog Weighing 740 Pounds. Readers of The Record will recall a mention which appeared two or three weeks since In tho Parowan department de-partment of a hog raised by Win. II. Gurr, and which it was Btnted was believed be-lieved to bo tho largset hog ever produced in Iron county. Tho weight was given ns 375 pounds. Writing from Provo under date of October 27th, Thomas Ynrdley, takes issue with this clnTm in tho following language: "In your issue of the 15th I see it is claimed that tho Gurr pig weighing 375 pounds was the largest ever raised in Iron county. Your informant was not thoroughly posted. In tho year 1894, in December, tho writer of this slaughtered ono nt 22 months old, which dressed 740 pounds. I was residing re-siding on the farm now owned by W. Evana. You see tho old folks knew something of hog-raising in tho early days. Yours truly, "THOMAS YARDLEY, Provo, Utah. |
