C. Carpenter Enters Race for First Time With the Sensational Sen-sational Vote of 9,800, Giving Her Fourth Place Miss M. A. There has been feverish interest in The Record's voting vot-ing contest this week, and the vote registered is far in excess ex-cess of anything that has heretofore been shown since the candidates has been reversed, Blanch C. Jones again tak-contest tak-contest opened. The position of two of the three leading ing the lead, and Mrs. J. D. Leigh taking the position occupied oc-cupied last week by Mrs. Jones. A new entry this week is Mrs. J. C. Carpenter of Glendale, Utah, who comes up for the first count With the neat little vote of 9,800. We are informed that Mrs. Carpenter gathered these together in less than a week among her friends on the other side of the mountain, and it is probable that she will be a factor in the contest before it draws to a close. The three leading candidates are now running neck-and-neck, with less than three thousand votes dividing them. The friends of the respective nominees, are-taking a very lively interest and are lookng out for every available vote. The prize car is now here, and in its glossy coat of black just out of the factory, and its pleasing lines, sets all the- candidates to longing as they look at it. It is on the program pro-gram that each contestant is to receive a demonstration of the car as fast as we can get around to them. Maud A. Benson of Parowan added quite a number of votes to her count this week, but as yet has only fifth place in the contest. However, it would not surprise us were Miss Benson to take a jump and get up in the.front ranks at any time. It is surprising that there are not more entries, looking look-ing to the winning of the minor prizes. One day's consistent con-sistent canvassing on the part of any bright girl would be almost certain to pay her five dollars in gold, which beats doing housework. Some young lady out at the B. A. C. could pick up this some Saturday just for pin money. Blanch C. Jones draws down the $5 week end prize this time. It should be borne in mind not only by the candidates, but by all patrons of The Record as well that the contest ends FRIDAY, DECEMBER TENTH and the count will be made four days later, permitting all letters postmarked up to and including the 10th, containing votes of remittances entitling to votes, to participate in the final count. No further extension will be made. SPECIAL WEEKLY PRIZES. Continuing the practice that we commenced last week, we offer a weekly cash prize of $5.00 for the candidate having hav-ing the highest number of votes at the time the official count is made by the judges on the morning of the day of publication publi-cation of the paper. This is in addition to the cash prizes already advertised, and will have no bearing upon the award of prizes at the close of the contest. It will serve as expense money for the hardest working candidate as he or she goes along. Now, who is going to draw down the first Five Spot? From now on the race is going to be spirited, and any person entertaining thoughts of entering at this time, had best not delay any longer. Sample copies of The Record and copies of our subscription list will be furnished to candidates upon request. |
