Show WELL-KNOWN PHYSICIAN DIES AT KAYSVILLE Kaysville, March 28. Dr. Fredrick Clift, one of the best-known best-known physicians in Utah and editor of the Utah Medical Journal, died at his home here at 5:30 o'clock this morning after an illness of three weeks with pneumonia. The news comes as a shock to his wide circle of friends, as he was reported re-ported to be recovering when a relapse a day or two ago brought the end of a long and successful career in the medical field. Dr. Clift was a man of unusually unusual-ly broad education. Born in St. Day. Cornwall, England, on August 1, 1847, the son of Richard Rich-ard and Christine Holcombe Clift, he graduated at Cambridge,. Cam-bridge,. England, befoce coming com-ing to the United States. After coming to this country he took up the study of medicine and won his degree at the Keokuk, la., Medical Kchool. Coming to Utah, Dr. Clift located at St. George. Since that time he had practiced his profession in St. Goerge, Heber City, Provo, Kaysville and Lay-toi Lay-toi . For six years he was assistant to the medical director of the State Mental hospital. At the time of his death he was secretary of the Davis County Medical association. Dr. Clift was first married in England, his wife dying before .he-left there. By that marriage he is survived by a son, Eric, who is in England. On December Decem-ber 31, 1896, he was married to Mrs. Sarah M. Foster in St. George. Two children survive from this marriage, Vivyan and Clive. ' f Dr. Clift joined the Latter-day Latter-day Saints in St George on August 22, 1896, and since that time has been an active and devoted de-voted member of that church. Funeral serviced will be held in Kaysville at 1 o'clock Mon-t day afternoon. Members of the Davis County Medical association associa-tion will attend in a body. The funeral will be in the Kaysville meeting house. Mrs.' Clift is the mother of S. J. Foster, cashier of the Bank of Southern Utah, of this city. Mr. Foster left for Kaysville Saturday in response to a telegram tele-gram announcing the death of Dr. Clift, to be present at the funeral. |
