H r "According to the very best H authorities," says Dr. Worst, H l "one acre producing 20 bushels H i' of wheat, mines from the soil H j 44 pounds of potash, worth 5 It cents a pound, or $2.20; twenty H j; pounds of phosphoric acid, H ' worth four cents a pound or 80 B cents, and 42 pounds of nitrogen, H 1 1 worth 15 cents a pound or $6.30; J; a total of $9.30 an aero or 46 1-2 H cents worth of soil fertility for H . every bushel of wheat raised. H The United States department H ' of agriculture says that labor H j and other production costs, in-H in-H terest on investment, cost of H ; marketing, depreciation, etc., H ; amounting to 58cents per bushel H I for all wheat raised in the'Unied H I ' States.
