Show CURFEW LAW REVIVED TT HR RECORD is glad to note that the curfew i law, so long a dead letter upon our city ordi nance book, is being revived and enforced. The i growing tendency of young people of this place to be upon the streets and in places of business at j late and unseemly hours of night, is one of our I great social problems. Mere children, from ten ; years of age up, were acquiring this pernicious ; habit of "running the streets at nigh," usually contrary to the wishes and instructions of their j parents, but the custom was becoming so common and universal that they were unable to check it without the assistance of the civil authorities. Already, since the resurrection of the curfew ordinance, a great improvement is noticeable. If followed up and persisted in, this law will make all the difference possible in the career of many of the young boys and girls, for instead of wasting their time upon the streets, acquiring other bad habits and getting into mischief and difficulties, they will be found at home reading and gaining a fund of useful knowledge, provided, of course, the parents do their duty in supervising the kind of reading matter brought into their homes. m |
