Show UTAH EDITORS TO SEE ZION Annual Excursion and Meeting Will be Held Amid Southern Utah's Famous Scenery. WILL ARRIVE IN CEDAR SATURDAY, AUGUST 25th First Visit of Utah Editorial Association Associ-ation to Southern Utah and Commercial Com-mercial Club May Entertain. The members of the Utah Press Association have determined to spend their vacation and hold their annual meeting in Zion Canyon, after all, and a large company of the editors and publishers, accompanied by their ladies la-dies are due to arrive in Cedar City at noon on Saturday, Aug. 25, and spend Sunday and possibly Monday at the Wylie camps in the canyon. This is the first time in the history of the Utah Newspaper men's organization organi-zation that the editor have collectively collect-ively paid a visit to the southern part of the state, and we hope to see their visit here made a pleasurable outing. We are sure that we have some of the finest scenery hereabouts to ba found anywhere in the world, and we hope that they will find southern Utah hospitality hos-pitality on a par with the other features feat-ures of the country. It is not known definitely at this writing how many there w'll bo in the party, but it is estimated at about fifty. Af-1 Af-1 ter lunch in Cedar City the editors will proceed to the Canyon on Satur- day, their business meeting being scheduled for the evening of that day. Sunday will be spent in viewing the i wonders of Zion Canyon, or the Mu-kuntuweap Mu-kuntuweap National Monument, and ! it is possible that arrangements will be made to spend another day there Returning they will arrive in Cedar City either Monday or Tueidr.y. Jmt what steps will be taken, '( any for the entertainment of the pub'rshers at Cedar City has not yet been decided, de-cided, but Dr. Macfarlane, president of the Commercial club has announced his intention of calling the club together to-gether la the immediate fuun for the purpose of discussing the matter ami outlining come sort of ii program. Cedar City's reputation as a progressive, pro-gressive, go-a-head town has been heralded to all parts of the state, and we cannot afford to sacrifice that reputation rep-utation now. Mr. H. J. Doolittle and other wiJe-a-wake citizens of Lund are trying to arrange for a short excursioi uom that place to some of the large wells on the desert adjacent to that place. If it is at all possible, the editors ought to be prevailed upon to stiy a ' day in Cedar City and see soma cf o ir canyon scenery, the Brunch Agricultural Agricul-tural College, and as much of th eltj and surroundings in gener-il as they could take in in one day. We boUftVI that from a pecuniary .standpoint we would be the gainers by trying to ar-' ar-' range for a program of this kind. The majority of the newspaper men will come down from the northern portions of the state over the Salt Luke Route, being Joined, of course, j at various points along the route by those more nearly contiguous to us. Some may even come in from the other side of the range by auto, joining join-ing the company at the Canyon. |
