Show is; ; THE RECORD deeply regrets that more was not known of the Intentions of the young men of this place who have gone to Salt Lake City to offer their services to the government in the present pres-ent situation, before they were tin the eve of de parting. It would have been much more becoming becom-ing of the community and more pleasing to these patriots if they could have gone in a body, escorted escort-ed by the loyal people of the community, and with some little demonstration on our part of appre elation for their unselfish and courageous act But the fact that publicity was not sought, am' they went quietly and unostentatiously to answei their country's call for soldiers, rather redoundi to rather than diminishes the lustre of their sac rifice. They are heroes, every one of them, and are actuated by the same loyal devotion and love of the flag that guided our early patriots, who made this the grandest country in th I whole universe. uni-verse. God grant that they may all be spared to return to us, after the expiration of their term in service, providing, of course, thev are able tc pass the examination and engage in the service And If they do not pass, their patriotic act is none the less commendable.
