Labor Accepted For Hotel Stock I EIGHTEEN SALESMEN CANVASS CEDAR CITY Enthusiasm of Commercial Club and Citizens is Reminder of Pioneer Days When Labor and Produce were, Sole Currency. Work began again on the new hotel this (Friday) morning,Tho decision to resume the work wnsWrivcd at in a meeting of the hotel boa,rd-n connection con-nection with the Commercial ' Club canvassing committee held in the office of the Cedar Lumber & Commission Co. Thursday night. Twenty-three men, members of the board and the k committee, pledged $25 each to meet T ' the firsfBcmi-monthly-payroll. -- ; The city of Cedar has been divided into nine sections with two canvassers canvas-sers to each section to sell hotel stock to the people. Cash, liberty bonds, farm products of labor will be accepted accep-ted in payment, with the proviso that the labor must be such as can be used to advantage on the building. Liberty Lib-erty bonds will bo accepted at par. Farm products will be accepted at prices according to the following schedule: flour, $4.50 per cwt. wheat, oats and shelled corn $2.50 per cwt. barley $2.10 per cwt., baled hay, first cutting $16.00 per ton, other cuttings $14.00 per ton, potatoes, $2.00 per cwt. home cured hams 30c per lb., t shoulders, 20c, bacon 25c, fresh pork h 15c, fresh beef 12MsC, fresh mutton 5 15c tftiji For work on the building laborers H will receive $3.25 per day, man and H team $3.00 per day, carpenter $5.00 JjM per day, and mason $(7.00 per day. Tgk When the matter of beginning work Wtk immediately was under discussion E. WM M. Corry, presiding, gave an estimate ,JI of five hundred dollars as the amount 'f M necessary to meet the first semi- M monthly payroll. W. K. Granger m made the motion that work begin next morning and that each member of I board and committee pledge $25 to I guarantee this payroll. The motion carried unanimously by standing vote. Speaking in support of immediate im-mediate resumption of work, Evan E. Williams apparently voiced the scn-v scn-v timent of the meeting and aroused in tense enthusiasm when he took the floor and said: "I had not heretofore taken any stock in this building, but I have been s told on all sides that I am going to take some. I have had some exper- IjA ience in such projects as these, and 1 have found that success comes from j going ahead with determination, so ml if the payroll for the next half month 1 is no higher than has been stated here I I will be glad to pledge ten per cent I of the amount so that the work can go on."
