Show B. A. C. CONFERENCE PLEASESJOMEN. The number of women who havo taken advantago of the short courses offered at tho B. A. C. this week, and tho interest they havo shown, may bo taken as ample evidence of the success suc-cess of tho Housekeepers' Conference. Tho courses i,n dressmaking and millinery, mil-linery, conducted by Miss Rozina Ski" more, and the courso in homo nursing given by Mrs. Christiansen, havo prpved especially attractive, and tho women in attendance hnve expressed themselves as more than paid for having hav-ing joined tho school. Miss Skidmore, nformer instructor at tho B. A. C, brought back to her many friends in this region, a renewed renew-ed and greater interest in her art, and gave to her women students the highest high-est type of helpful instruction. Every woman taking her courses Bhowcd by tho interest djsqlayed that tho instruction in-struction clvon was of tho kind Sought, and Miss Skidmoro has fixed for herself a lasting place in tho heart of her many local admirers. . Of Mrs. Christiansen's courso in homo nursing, it would bo difficult to say more than it deserves. As one womon expressed it, "Sho is 100 per cent efficient. Her first lecture and demonstration on hydrotherapy, a recognized treatments treat-ments for colds should have been attended at-tended by every woman hi southern Utah, whereas her second, on the caro of the sick bed and the bathing and vubbingof tfic bed-ridden qatient, was done with such skill that the fortunate "patient" fell a victim to thp nerve-soothing nerve-soothing touch of tho nurse and soon was fast asleep. Even the numerous questions asked by more than one hundred women who witnessed the do monstration failed to disturb to "patient", "pa-tient", and sha slept peacefully on to the end of tho period, when she had to be aroused. Other lectures and demonstrations de-monstrations f ive,n by Mrs. Christiansen Christian-sen were based upon topics suggested by tho women in attendance, and were of the most practical nature. Certainly, Cer-tainly, in tho minds of many womo who have expressed themselves, no Conference ever brought to them moro useful imformation. Mr. McCarty'a talk, Tuesday afternoon, after-noon, on "Music In The Home" conveyed con-veyed to the women m a most entertaining, enter-taining, instructive manner tho kind of imformation that mothers need in creating wholesome home environment environ-ment for their children. His demonstration demon-stration on tho piano of the proper and improper rendition of familiar music was very effective. A novel demonstration of tho greatest great-est practical importance to womo.n was given by Mr, Croft of the B. A. C. No longer will the hoviewive in attendance atten-dance be thrown uito a panic over electric elec-tric irons that refuso to Heat; taps that persist in leaking, or pots and pans with holes in them. For, having witnesed the demonstration, they will solcct tho reqired tools from a convenient con-venient kit and go about their own repair re-pair work intelligently and confi dently. Yesterday afternoon Mrs. CHris-tino CHris-tino B. Clayton, head of tho B. A. C. Home Economics Department, gave a demonstration in Pressure Cookery, which was highly appreciated by all tho women attending the conference. Tho scheduled program for today included 'Plaited Skirts" by Miss Skidmore; "Homo Nursing", by Mrs. Christainse.n; "Millinery" by Miss Skidmore and Miss Ada Whljtaker of the local institution; and "Tho Home Library" by Mrs. Myrtle Jnn-son Jnn-son of the B. A. C. English Department. Depart-ment. A special lecture on "Ho'.v to Retain Beauty" will bo given thia afternoon by Mrs. Christiansen, in tho B. A. C auditorium, i'his lecturo was first scheduled for the girln of the Welfare Club, but tho demand from the older women became bo great that it was finally decided to throw the doors open to everybody caring to attend. " Saturday is left open for ndjstus-. sion of any topics the Conference members may suggest |
