It is a product of tho East Indies, chlolly of tho island oif Borneo, and In tho form In which It is linporteu i ciescnueu. as "whitish In color, looking something some-thing llko marshmallow candy, smoll-lug smoll-lug strongly of petroleum and oxidizing oxidiz-ing on oxposuro to tho air, becoming hard." Tho samo description says: "It Is not a substitute for gutta-percha or India rubber, but Is used chlolly as a filler in manufactures of India rubber rub-ber gum and gutta-percha." Ita importation im-portation has Increased from G,500,000 pounds In 1899 to 14,000,000 pounds in 1903. |
