Show H DO NOT FAIL TO BE THERE. H The question of more school room H that is to come before the people , ext Friday night is a very tmpor- J .t?nt one and requires the exercise of H ih'c best judgement that is in the B ' community to deal with it. It seems B to be the general feeling that our Hj school population has out grown the 1 present building, and what is of still B more importance, it has out grown the grounds attached to the build- B ing, so that it is evident that if more Hj "ground cannot be gotten in that yi- B cinity a new building or buildings H will have to be erected elsewhere. H The trustees have in view the erec- B t tion of an addition to the present H '.building of two or more rooms which H is hoped will enablethcm totidc over B ' the matter by renting the four rooms H 'in the Ward hall that they are now H renting for at least another year, but H they still will have before them the J fact that a new building with more H extensive grounds must be secured H before long. The cost of the ad- H tlition which thetrustces have in view H is variously estimated will cost from H eight to sixteen hundred dollars, and H it is extremely probable that when H they have to erect a new school H building and want to dispose of the H old one the new addition that they H are talking of building will H not make it sell for any more than H ' t would bring in its i present condi- Hl.sasaitln.' At the meeting lasi.U'hurHila " '--? m'ght, Principal WJoodburry made H what seemed to several of those who H were present a very wise suggestion, H which was that it would be better if H aiore room must be built this year H to secured a piece cf ground in some H convenient part of the city, and put H a building thereon that would ac- H commodate two or three grades; H this building and ground wonld be H much more likely to sell for some- H , thing like its cost when the new H large building that is being talked H of is started, than would the addition M that the trustees have, in view. IIow- H ever it seems to us that there is a H still better chance to the over the H present year than that, which is to m rent the rooms that Mr. L. V. Jones H told the trustees at the meeting he H would let them have. In the mean M time it would be a good idea to tax M oursslvts at least one half of one M per cent for building purposes and m keep that amount on hand tillanoth j H r year towards the erection of the M building or buildings that we shall m inevitably have to erect; this, would fl Buike it that much easier for us to m build when we start, and if by put H ting the matter of two years and get- Hj ting some considerable sum in the, H " treasury to begin withf we can light H en the heavy load that we shall H have to bear in the erection of a thir H ty tliousand dollar building, it H ' vwUI seem to be a wise course to H ' Kow fellow citizens the meeting B t.Xt Friday night is one that all H onght to attend, as some definite ac-, H thn for the next school year will H have to be taken thereat, 110 further H ; adjournment will be possible as the H time allowed by the law for taxing H Mill have passed. |
