Stephens entertained at whist on Friday evening. About twenty-five guests were present. Dr. and Mrs. A. C. Ewing and Dr. and Mrs. S. C. Baldwin have gone to North Beach, and before returning j they will visit California and the Puget sound country. 4y- . A delightful card party of the past week was that given Wednesday evening even-ing by Mr. and Mrs. John J. Daly. The house was beautifully decorated, the artistic work having been designed by Evans. The parlors and dining room were in pink and white, with the ' feathery green of the asparagus fern. I In the library, red was the color, and the flowers were the deep red carnations. carna-tions. About sixty guests enjoyed the I evening, and the game of sixty-three was played with enthusiasm. The score cards were dainty pen and ink sketches, and the tallies were smaller cards to match. The ladies' first prize was won by Mrs. David C. McLaughlin; McLaugh-lin; the men's by Mr. George Holman. and the consolation prizes went to Mrs. J. S. Bransford and Colonel E. A. Wall. |
