Show "Wanted, a Bartender." . The other day, says a writer In an exchange, I picked u a newspaper, and glancing over the advertisements for help, read as follows: ' - t "Wanted, a bartender.- Must be a t total abstainer. Apply," etc. : Is not that. a curious advertisement? What should we think of such an ad- j vertisernent in any other line of' busi- J ness? How- would an advertisement like this look? ' f "Wanted, a barber who never has j had his hair cut. Apply at the barber shop on the corner." I Or this? ' . "Wanted, a salesman in a shoe store. He must go barefooted while on duty. f Apply at Blank's shoe store." I What other business finds it neces- I sary or desirable to advertise for help . f i pledged to 'make no use of the goods j sold? Can it be that the liquor traffics finds it has wrought so great demorali- zation to draw upon temperance or to- j tal abstainers in order to continue its j business? I |
