Show OGDEN. Labor day was celebrated in Ogden under the auspices of the Machinists' union in this city, having charge of the parade and the games at Glenwood, Through some misunderstanding the speechmaking did not take place. Governor Gov-ernor Wells had to return at 2 o'clock and did not speak. Mayor Glasmann therefore, did not welcome him to the rostrum, as neither gentleman got to that place. The governor was met at the depot by Attorney John D. Murphy, Mur-phy, Deputy Recorder David Matson. Mayor Glasmann and other machinists! These four rode in a carriage through the parade. The prize for the best commercial float was given to Max Davidson, whose employes were making cigars in a nicely equipped float. - The boilermakers' union got the prize for the best industrial float. At Glenwood park, the programme of sports was carried out and a dance given giv-en in the evening.
