Show Importance of Irish Traffic." The Irish traffic is of such growing importance to the big railway corporations corpora-tions of Englandthat it has created competition of the keenest kind on the part of the Midland company from the north, by way of Beysham. and the Great Western company from the south, via Fishguard. This competition competi-tion is forcing up an accelerated service serv-ice by the older routes, and next month strangely enough when the tourist traffic for the season may be said to have ceased the London & Northwestern North-western company will make things lively live-ly for their rivals. A new steamship service will be inaugurated between Fleetwood and Londonderry in connec- j tion with the fast trains from London. The Improved service to Belfast, via Holyhead and Greenore, will be continued, con-tinued, and, as already announced, the boat train from Enston to Holyhead will be very materially accelerated, giving giv-ing a new evening connection to Gal-way Gal-way and to the south a service quicker quick-er than the Irish mall. But all this it would seem, is only in reality the friiigs of what is to come next summer in th matter of railway development and speed. |
