Show OFFICERS ARE INSTALLED Interesting Ceremony Attended by Hundred Knights of Columbus Banquet Is Served. The Knights of Columbus of Salt Lake council No. 602 installed the officers offi-cers for the ensuing year with a banquet ban-quet at the council chamber of the lodge in the Jennings block Tuesday evening. One hundred members of the local council and several members of other councils attended the installation ceremony. District Deputy Supreme Knight J. B. Cosgriff and his staff installed in-stalled the officers who were recently elected. They were: Thomas J. O'Brien, grand knight; Daniel J. Laramie, Lara-mie, deputy grand knight; F. J. Car-ten, Car-ten, chancellor; C. A. Locke, financial' secretary; J. R. Canning, recorder; J. P. Fanning, lecturer; Dr. P. E. Erick-son, Erick-son, warden; John Griffin, treasurer; Philip Flnnegan, advocate;. Oswald Veltz, Inside guard; James Kelly, outside out-side guard; P. H. Cannon, trustee. Following the installation ceremony Pest Grand Knight James Killeen was presented with a beautiful ring, emblematic em-blematic of the first three degrees of the order. The presentation on behalf of the council was made by Advocate Philip Finnegan. After the banquet had been served Lecturer J. P. Fanning presided at an informal program of talks and music. All of the newly elected and the outgoing out-going officers made short speeches. A, delightful address was delivered by the Rev. Father E. P. Gueymard of New Orleans. The knights had a very large and enthusiastic en-thusiastic meeting. They expect in the near future to initiate a large class in the first, second and third degrees.- All good Catholic men should become Knights of Columbus, as the members are desirous of upbuilding the council and increasing: the membership to 500. The Knights of Columbus is a fine order, or-der, and being the only Catholic organization or-ganization in Salt Lake, it should be a factor In the community. |
