Jan. 19, in Logan Avenue Ave-nue chapel, candidates for admission to the Holy Name society will be received, re-ceived, marking the close of a three days' retreat. The exercises will take place at 4 o clock in the afternoon, and the address of the day will be made by Rev. Francis O'Neil. O. P.. pastor of St. Dominic's church. Dinner Din-ner in the school hall will follow the religious exercises. Queen of Heaven Aid Society. A special meeting of the Queen of Heaven Aid association was held Thursday afternoon. St. Vincent's Aid Society. The Annunciation parish branch of St. Vincent's Aid society held a large and enthusiastic meeting Thursday afternoon. af-ternoon. Jan. 9. at the home of Mrs. George E. Smith. 3653 Lafayette street. i A The Sisters of St. Clara's orphanage have issued the following card of thanks to all who assisted them in making Christmas a merry one for their little charges: "Happy New Year is the greeting we extend to the many friends- and benefactors bene-factors of St. Clara's orphanage, and wish to express to them our heartfelt appreciation for the many acts of benevolence be-nevolence rendered us during the past year. I "We also embrace this opportunity of manifesting our gratitude to the St. Clara's Aid society, the Guardian Angel An-gel guild, the Needlework Guild of America and the Tramway company for the many courtesies extended. "May God bless and prosper each and every one and bestow upon them His choicest gifts. FRANCISCAN SISTERS." St. Vincent's Orphan Aid Society. The annual election of officers of St. Vincent's Orphans' Aid society will be held on Tuesday afternoon. Feb. 4, at the residence of Miss Georgie W. Hughes, 237 West Fourteenth avenue. Queen's Daughters. Never since the first days of the existence ex-istence of the Queen's Daughters has there been such a meeting as that held last Saturday, Jan.' 4. at the home of Mrs. P. H. Wilkin, 1215 Corona street. Both in enthusiasm and in numbers the society did itself proud. The presence of Rev. T. H. Malone and Rev. H. L. McMenamin was an interesting feature of the afternoon. Father Malone was the first spiritual director of the so ciety, and in the few words he directed to the young women on Saturday he congratulated them on having fufilled the mos-t sanguine hopes he entertained for them when the Denver branch was launched three years ago last September. Septem-ber. Father Malone has been spending his Christmas holidays with relatives in Denver. Father McMenamin added a few words to the encouragement given by-Father by-Father Malone. The topic of discussion for the arter-noon arter-noon was the furnishing of beds for the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart, in charge of the Italian orphanage in North Denver. The society decided to give five beds, two to be purchased out of the funds of the treasury, one to be I the gift of Miss Josie Marion, one from Mrs. W. P. Ryan, mother of the president presi-dent ,and one from Mrs. Daniel G. Mon-aghan, Mon-aghan, former president of the society. Miss Mary Mulrooney, treasurer of the Denver council, reported that the proceeds of the ball given in October have already reached $150, after all expenses ex-penses are paid, and that thirty tickets tick-ets are yet to be reported on. This money has been deposited as the nucleus nu-cleus of a trust fund. Personal. Miss Katherine Goodwin of 1100 Clarkson street will be hostess to La Sorrella card club on Saturday evening, even-ing, Jan. 11. Dr. and Mrs. J. J. O'Neil of 1434 Tre-mont Tre-mont place are receiving congratulations congratula-tions on the arrival of a baby daughter born last week. Last year Mr. Kerwin was a regular member of the choir, and his voice lent much to the real pleasure with which the music was then received. x Eugene Scanlon has returned to his home in Denver after a delightful Christmas vacation spent with relatives in the east. Alexander Douds, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Douds. who has-been has-been quite ill at Steele hospital, is rapidly rap-idly recovering and will soon be able to be removed to his home. Miss Ethel Chocker of New Y'ork, who has been the house guest of Miss Marie Ma-rie Sheedy. left last week for her eastern east-ern home. While in Denver, Miss Crocker was the inspiration of a number num-ber of delightful entertainments. Miss Elsie Sullivan, a teacher in the primary department of the school at Julesburg.
