Show RATIOXS RESTORED. The Indian appropriation bill passed the senate sen-ate today. The bill contains an item Avhich maks it impossible for the Indian department, in the d:3 tribution of rations to Indians who receive such rations from the government, to discriminate against Indian children attending mission schools. The Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions desires de-sires to acknowledge it obligations to Representatives Representa-tives Sherman and Fitzgerald of Xew York, Curtis of Kansas, Brown of Wisconsin. Burke of South Dakota. Boutell of Illinois and Morrell of Pennsylvania, Penn-sylvania, and to Senators Aldrich of Rhode Island, Piatt of Connecticut, Quay and Penrose of Pennsylvania. Penn-sylvania. Teller of Colorado and Dubois of Idaho, for the incorporation in the Indian appropriation bill of the rations item and its acceptance by both houses of congress. There was"no opposition whatever what-ever to the measure in the senate, and in the house the only man who placed himself on record against it was Mr. Stephens of Texas. The restoration of the rations is due chiefly to Senator Aldrich and Representative Sherman. WM. II. KETCHAM. Director Bureau Catholic Indian Mis?ions.
