Show j Iniermouttfain news, j !. - MISSOULA, MONT. A "retreat,"' which was participated in by forty-one Sisters of Charity, closed on Friday night. March 25, at the Sisters' academy, Missoula. Twenty-live Sisters from other cities in Montana Mon-tana and Idaho were in attendance and five young ladies joined the order, or-der, making their professions on Friday Fri-day afternoon. Miss Murray of Wallace Wal-lace became Sister Lawrence; Miss La-fage. La-fage. Sister Phillipa: Miss Deodur. Sister Sis-ter Scrathina; Miss Collette, Sister Israel. Sister Oswald of Chicago was among the Sisters who attended the retreat. The five young ladies who took the vows will be attached'to different dif-ferent convents and hospitals 'through Montana and Idaho, two. of them re- maining in Missoula. The solemn ceremonies cere-monies took place in the Catholic church and were very beautiful and imposing. Mrs. Murray, mother of Miss Murray who consecrated her life to the cause of charity, was present and witnessed the ceremony. Mrs. Ed Duffy of Florence was a guest at the Rankin hotel last week J. Miss Mary MaeMahon and Miss Annie An-nie O'Brien, of Butte, both recently passed successful examination here and Miss MaeMahon will soon begin a term of school in the Weber district, dis-trict, and Miss O'Brien at the Finn school in the valley. Mrs. Otho "Wise and Mrs. Fred Patterson Pat-terson visited a few days with friends in Butte recently. Mrs. J. F. Sheeny spent Friday of last week in Butte the guest of Mrs T. S. Hogan. EUREKA, NEV. Mrs. F. O. Henderson and baby have gone to Virginia City for a short visit with the former's mother, Mrs. Mori-arity. Mori-arity. From there they go to Tonopah to join Mr. Henderson. Miss Lena Peters, niece of John Peters, Pe-ters, left Eureka last week for a vifit in California. f- Judge Peter Breen, who ha3 been holding a term of district court at Austin, Lander county, returned to Eureka last week. f : Mrs. Joe Tognoni was in Eureka the fore part of the past week purchasing goods for her store at Duckwater. The death of Mrs. Bridget McCarty occurred in Eureka Wednesday night. March 1901. at the home of Ed Mccormick Mc-cormick on South Main street. Mrs. McCarthy was probably the oldest old-est woman in Nevada when ."he died, bfing 96 years, 2 months and 17 dayti old. She was a woman of remarkabhi bodily and mental health and vigor, and at no time in her life had a physi cian oteii caueu 10 aiienn ner. -previous to her death she had been confined to her bed for fourteen weeks frrm physical exhaustion. Wednesday she seemed weaker, but gave- no other evidence evi-dence of passing away, and so peaco-full peaco-full was the end that those at her bedside did not think she was dead. Mrs. McCarthy was a native of the County Mayo, Ireland. She raised Ed McCormick and always made her home with him. About fifteen years ago, in company with Mrs. McCormick. she came from her old home in Canada to Eureka. The funeral took place on Friday afternoon from Ed MeCormiek's residence, resi-dence, thence to the Catholic church. where services were held. Rev. Father Manion officiating. A large number of friends were present and accompanied the remains to the Catholic cemetery. |
