Show CATHOLIC MISSIONARY WORK IN CHINAS The war in China develops the fact that Catholic missionaries have not been idle in that country, but in years of great trials and suffering have won over thousands of Chinese to the faith of our Fathers. The Catholic legation at Washington has just issued a very interesting statement state-ment on this question; a statement that is well worth the careful thought of all interested in the progress of the Church and Christianity in the far east. For missionary work the Catholic Church has divided the Chinese empire into four provinces. The province of Chili is divided into northern, southwestern south-western and southeastern districts. Pekin is in the northern district. The same apostolic vicarage comprises northern Honan and Manchuria and central, eastern and western Mongolia In this district there are 38,640 Catholics Cath-olics out of a total population of 12,-000,000. 12,-000,000. There are twenty-two residential resident-ial stations. In the city of Pekin there are five, in Tien Tsin two, Kim Turn four, Paoting Fu four, Sieun Hua Fu six and Pa Ceu one. There are 460 stations sta-tions in the district visited by missionaries, mission-aries, thirty-five churches, 145 chapels and 107 oratories. In southeastern Chili there are 45,510 Catholics out of a population ol 7,155,-420, 7,155,-420, and seven residential stations Ciam Kai Ciuam, Cia Kai Ciuam, Tai Min Fu, Fai Kai Ciai, Lu Kai Ciuam, Tu Kai Ciuam and Kai Tcheoa. There are in the district eighteen churches, sixty chapels and 500 oratories. In southwestern Chili there are 28,740 Catholics out of a population of 8,000,- 000, and missionary stations are located at Cemtim Fu, Ccium Tej Fu, Pien Tsium, Kiao Ciai, Tarn Kiu, Kla Cinam, Faun Kia Ciuam, Scim Ngan and Yen Turn. In Honan there are 2,250 Catholics out of a population of 6,000,000, and seven stations. In Manchuria there are 21,830 Catholics Cath-olics out of a population of 20,000,000, and the following stations: In the province of Moukden twenty, in the province of Ghirin, Manchuria, seven stations. In this province there are eighteen churches, forty-two chapels and 100 oratories. In eastern Mongolia there are 7,890 Catholics out of a population of 15,-000,000, 15,-000,000, and eleven stations. There are sixteen churches and thirteen chapels. In central Mongolia there are 14,900 Catholics;. In southwestern Mongolia there are 4,450 Catholics. , In Kansu there are 5,010 Catholics, out of a population of 21,500,000, and stations sta-tions at Som'Sciu Scioam, Kan Ceu Fu, Su Kai Scioam, Learn Ceu Fu, Yen Tai Keu, Sim Siom, Hui Kien and Huen Kia Ho. In northern Shen Si there are 9.1S0 Catholics out of a population of 5.000,-000, 5.000,-000, and four stations, thirty-seven churches and fourteen chapels. In northern Shan Si there are 13,150 Catholics out of a population of 6,000,-000, 6,000,-000, and four stations, twenty-six chapels chap-els and 160 oratories. In southern Shan Si there are 8.301 Catholics out of a population of 6,000,-000, 6,000,-000, and six stations, twenty churches and fifty-one chapels and oratories. In northern Shantung there are 14.900 Catholics out of a population of 12,000,-000. 12,000,-000. and eight stations and 1S2 churches. In western Shantung there are 7.4.S0 Catholics, and thirty-seven churches and chapels. In southern Shantung there are 9,030 Catholics out of a population of 10,000,-000. 10,000,-000. There are 3 churches and 58 chapels. chap-els. In Cheh Kiang there are 10,500 Catholics Cath-olics out of a population of 25,000,000 and 10 missionary stations, 10 churches and 49 chapels. In northern Honan there are 215 Catholics out of a population of 10,-000.000. 10,-000.000. There the 5 churches. In southern Honan there are 5,670 Catholics out of a population of 10,000,-000, 10,000,-000, and 10 stations. There are 13 churches and 35 chapels. In western Hu Peh there are 16,000 Catholics out of a population of. 16,000,-000, 16,000,-000, with 75 churches and chapels. Only stations given is Uciam Fu and Han Kia. In northwestern Hu Peh there are 4.920 Catholics out of a population of 9,000,000, with 13 stations, 2 churches and 27 chapels. Names of stations not given. In Kiam Nan there are 104.070 Catholics Cath-olics out of a population of 50,000,000. In the province of Kiam Su there are stations at Sciam Hai, Kan Kin, Su Ceu, Som Kiam, Pu Tom, Ciam Ceu, Sin Ceu, lam Ceu, Tsom Min and Hai Men. In the province of Ngan Hoei stations are located at Nim Ko Fu, I Ngan Kim, Tai P ing, Lu Ngan. Im Ceu, Hoei Cen and Cien Ciu. In Kiam Nan there are 672 churches and 91 chapels. In northern Kiangsi there are 4,570 DCatholics out of a population of 10,-000,000, 10,-000,000, with 9 missions, 34 churches and I chapels. I In southern Kiangsi there are 4,220 I Catholics out of a population of 10,000,- 000. They have 13 churches and 34 chapels. In Kwelchan there are 16,730 Catholics Catho-lics in a population of 10,000,000, with 67 stations. There are 77 churches in the province. In northwestern Szechuen there are 39,600 Catholics out of a population of 20,000,000, with 52 stations, 25 churches and 30 chapels. In western Szechuen there are 31,000 Catholics out of a population of 15,000,-000, 15,000,-000, with 50 missionary stations and 64 churches. In southern Szechuen there are 10,000 Catholics out of a population of 15,000,-000. 15,000,-000. with 56 churches. In Tibet there are 1,320 Catholics out of a population of 4,000,000, with stations at Scia Pa Tse Ku, Sias Wi Si, Yerkalo, Ta Tsien Lu and P'e Dom, and 2 churches. In Yun Nan there are 10.290 Catholics out of a population of 12,000,000. They have 52 churches and chapels. In Amoy there are 3,370 Catholics out of a population of 4,500,000. In Fukien there are 34,20 Catholics out of a population of 20.000,000. In Hong Kong there are 7,000 Catholics. Cath-olics. In Kwangsi there are 1,110 Catholics out of a population of 10.000.000.
