He was struck by the ball on the knee, and thought nothing noth-ing of it until he reached home that evening:, when his knee began to swell, and medical assistance seemed necessary. neces-sary. The swelling- has now disappeared disappear-ed from the injured knee without any serious results remaining-. The prayers of the congregation were requested Sunday at all the Masses for the speedy recovery of Mr. Joseph Be- s.-tie. who is reported dangerously ill at his home. 525 Breckinridge street. The Sacred Heart Cathedral will be the scene of two weddings this week, announcements of which have already , been made. On Tuesday . Mr. James McCarthy and Miss Helen Moran will be the contracting parties, and on Wednesday Wed-nesday Mr. Joseph Heller and Miss Dora Jacoby, all of this city. Miss Lottie Whipple, who has been seriously ill at her home, is improving improv-ing rapidly, and it is to be hoped she will soon be able to be out again. Mrs. J. Moran of Anaconda is under the can- of Dr. William Treacv at St. John's hospital. She exjiects to go under un-der an operation this week. Little Charles Opp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Opp. is a young convales cent at St. John's hospital, where he has undergone a successful operation. He is one of the bright students of St. Alui'sius' school. There will be Requiem High Mass Thursday morning- at S o'clock, for the r.-pose of the soul of Mrs. Charles Curtis. Cur-tis. Rev. Joseph Blaere. assistant Priest for some time at St. Patrick's P.utte City, has boon recently appointed by Rt. Rev. Bishop Brondel pastor at Marysville. Mont. Bishop Brondel has remained true to his nromise to the Mary.sille Catholics, "giving them a good, worthy pastor," and one whom we doubt not will be warmly welcomed Mid w jll. within a very short time, endear en-dear himself to the heart of his congre-t congre-t jiAiii.-n. Father Blaere has been a .-'faithful and zealous worker in St. i Patrick's parish, and his removal will . regretted by his numerous friends in Butte. Rev. Francis O'Farrell has also received re-ceived the official appointment by Bishop Brondel as pastor of Townsend, Mont., which place he has ministered . 1 1 , tht; jdritual necessities of the con- gr--ualion for some time past at stated intervals. O'Conneil, one of the old-time residents of Helena, accompanied by his niece. Mrs. Mary Fltnn of Cascade, is spending a few days in Salt Bake City, combining business with pleasure a;nong "the Saints." Mr. and Mrs. M. Warren have left Helena to make their home in Victoria. B. C, where Mr. Warren has accepted a very desirable position. Mrs.. Warren w ill be greatly missed in religious and social envies. She was a member of lb-- Ladies" Literary and Benevolent society, and an enthusiastic worker in the interests of the Church. A great many of Helena's active social so-cial workers have left the city for a short time to enjoy th; mountain breezes, camn life, fishing and all the pleasures that make up summer vacations. vaca-tions.
